When dishwasher is set to begin, sensor takes very long period of time. Cycles are longer than minutes indicated. Dishwasher fills with water but does not wash. Water then drains as though cycle is complete and moves to next cycle. Then the process continues. When cycle for drying is reached, much heat is given and occasionally it smells as though there is burning. A 82 minute procedure turns into hours.

Good morning, our Siemens dishwasher has started malfunctioning. It sounds as if the cycle is working properly but it takes longer than normal and there is no hot water in the cycle. I have a couple of problems. Firstly, the auto programme now shows a cycle time of 199mins but actually takes much longer than that to complete - more like 4 hours. On the quick (!) wash cycle the time is 97 minutes, whereas it should be less than 30 mins. Second problem, the detergent box flap won't stay shut when loading, so I have to put the tablet in loose in the bottom. Could the 2 problems be related?

There is an issue with the machine not heating properly, it could be the control panel or the thermostat, The flap not staying shut is not connected to this. ... Dishwashers

Our 16 year old dishwasher takes way longer to finish cycles, has become very loud and now no longer cleans the dishes - especially the top rack and the silverware. We have hard water and I have run it with vinegar in a bowl 3 times and have been cleaning all the deposits I can today. It doesn't seem to be draining out all the gunk. Water flow seems ok, the arms have nothing blocking them. Any instructions for me to follow to clean out the mechanisms? Or has it run its lifespan... Thanks!

Kenmore Elite: - Stale smell from dishwasher, won't go away, lingers on dishes, glasses. I tried a vinegar remedy suggested by a diy site - it helps for a cycle or two, but the smell comes right back. Diy site suggested taking apart the dishwasher to see if there is food trapped: there always remains a little water at the end of each cycle - but I'm concerned about taking apart my dishwasher if there is another solution. Smell doesn't smell of food to me. What do you think? Hollie Smith
