Having problems with your Dishwashers ?

MY DISHWASHER DOES NOT DRAIN ALL THE TIME. AND IS LEAVING WATER IN THE BOTTOM MORE FREQUENTLY.

HI. check the following areas for fualts.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

GE GHDA485N 10CS Dishwasher that has standing water in the bottom after the cycle completes. I pulled it out and reconnected power and ran a rinse cycle. I could see that water was pumping out the clear drain pipe but there was still about an inch of standing water in the bottom. Any thoughts as to what part has failed. Does the system use a water level switch or a timed drain cycle to determine when the water has pumped out. If it is a timed cycle could a slow drain cause the problem. Thank you

The problem started with it not draining correctly and leaving water in the bottom - my husband took it apart and found a bolt in the drain. He removed it and now it won't start. It appears to not have power to the electrical panel- we have reset the breaker several times - left the breaker off for 10 minutes thinking it might erase the memory - I've asked for instructions to reset and I keep getting info that is very far removed from this model. I own a GE Profile GSD 4330 dishwasher. Recently it has been leaving some water in the bottom of the tub. This water accumulates over time until the entire bottom is filled. I have checked the air vent, garbage disposal unit and the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher (which was filthy). I cleaned the filter and everything else looks okay, but it is still leaving some water in the tub.

There is water in the bottom of dish washer after finishing. If I start another cycle, everything drains, so it's not a problem with the hose. I hear water draining. I think it is the drain time. When the machine was under warranty, the service guy came and changed the drain time to longer. He told me how to do it, via the buttons, but have now forgotten where I put such great information. I have a 1996 built in model.

My bosch dishwasher runs fine, cleans fine, drains fine....but after it has been just sitting for a while, the bottom very slowly fills up with water. Each time we run the machine the water level drains back to the normal amount in the bottom of the washer after the cycle is complete. Whirlpool Quiet Wash Plus dishwasher Model DU920PFGZ3. Worked fine until I replaced the insinkerator and forgot to punch the drain plug leaving water standing on the bottom of the machine. I punched the drain opening, and pushed the cancel/drain cycle button. It drained fine but since no water comes from the spray arms. I have removed the arm all the way down..NOTHING!! Some research indicated it could be the water inlet valve. When the buttons are pushed, it cycles but no spray or water.

Hi, I have a Kenmore 15879 that is basically working except the bottom water spinner...lol (don't know technical name). The dishwasher pumps the water into the bottom of the dishwasher, will heat the water, but not disperse the water in the spinning sprinkler manner it's suposed to. I've opened the dishwasher in time to see that water is spurting out of the holes about 2" high, but it's just not spinning. The water also drains just fine after the whole cycle.

My GE Nautilus DW doesn't fully drain. When it is drained as much as it will it leaves water in the sump at the rear right.
