Making sure the dryer exhaust vent ducting is clean is a major plus. However, if the dryer runs, but still does not heat, the following link may give you some advice on what to look for:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

First, begin by unplugging the dryer and verifying the voltage at the wall receptacle. You should read 220-240VAC across the two Hot terminals (left and right slots). If the voltage is incorrect, check to make sure you don't have a breaker tripped. Some homes use 2 separate 120VAC breakers to provide power to the receptacle vice using one 240VAC breaker.

If the voltage IS correct, leave the dryer unplugged and remove the cover plate on the terminal block in the back of the dryer (this is where the power cord is installed). Plug the dryer back in and take a voltage reading across the two hot (RED and BLACK) wires at the terminal block. You should read 220-240VAC. If the voltage is good, you have an internal heating problem. If the voltage is bad at the terminal block, but good at the receptacle, you have a bad power cord.

NOTE: If the wires at the terminal block are not color coded, the outer two wires (left and right) are the hot leads. The center conductor is neutral or ground.

The reason a dryer will still run if the input voltage is incorrect, is because the drive motor only uses a portion of the 220 service. The motor runs off 110-120VAC, while the heating circuits require 220-240VAC. So, if you are missing 1/2 your input voltage due to a tripped breaker or bad power cord, your dryer may exhibit these symptoms.

If you determine the problem to be internal, the heating circuits will either be located in the rear of the dryer on the right hand, or under the dryer drum on the right hand side. Usually, an easy way to determine is by the location of the lint screen filter. If the filter is on top of the dryer, the heating circuits are in the back of the dryer. If the lint screen is in the door, the heating circuits are located under the dryer drum.

All dryers are not constructed the same. However, the Heating Element is located inside a heater box. The Thermal Cut-Out (TCO) will be located on the outside of the heater box on the end opposite the heating element terminals. The Hi-Limit Thermostat will be located adjacent to the heating element terminals.

If either the TCO or Hi-Limit Thermostat are determined to be bad, replace BOTH components at the same time. That is why these components are commonly sold as a set. Failure to do so may result in premature failure of any parts you replace.

Replacement parts can be found at appliancepartspros.com, searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, or repairclinic.com. The average cost of these components varies, so shop around for the best price.

The heating circuitry is usually located under the "Bulkhead Parts" section.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete model number (usually located on a nameplate around the door opening) so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope you find this helpful.

I have a Maytag MDB7600AWB dish washer. I have a door leak, dripping from the right side. I can not see anything that would allow it. It seems like it could be coming from the inside of the door. Also, there is heat and condensation on at the top of the door, above the leak. It could be that steam is coming from the top right and dripping down the door. Could you give me some idea about fixing the problem.

A GE triton dishwasher causes hammer noise when stops filling. The sink faucet works fine as do all the other faucets in the house. I cleaned all of the traps in the dishwasher. Because the sink works, I don't think it is a sink valve problem. I turned off the water to the house and drained the system, the air chambers should be good. Is there some component of the dishwasher that could be causing the noise? Would cleaning the pump help? If so, how would I do that?

The cause of the hammering noise, (slamming) is due to the water inlet valve on the Dishwasher (DW) shutting off abrutly once the DW reaches the proper amount of water.\015\012\015\012If this is an older DW, you might want to replace the ... GE Dishwashers

I have a Quiet Guard Standard model #587.151524 that is not cleaning the dishes. I took the bottom spray arm and screens out and cleaned them, (they had a heavy buildup of what I would say is calcium. The arm cleaned up fine but the screen still has some areas that will not allow the water to drain. I tried CLR and it helped but the screen is still probably 60% clogged. Do you think this is the problem getting the dishes clean and if so do you have any suggestions about how to clean the screen?

After moveing to a new house our Bosch dishwasher is not washing the powdered soap out of the holder, then bakes on a nice film of soap on all of the dishes. When the cycle is done a fairly solid ball of soap is still in the tilt-out soap holder. I have looked for obstructions and cleaned out the screens but still no luck fixing it. We think the soap holder didn't used to end in the tilted out position but we can't remember for sure.

I have two problems with my GUI1500 dishwasher. The 1st is that when water starts entering the dishwasher I hear a loud hammering/vibrating sound. It's strange, but the sound will stop if I turn on a faucet in the house. The other problem I have is that the soap dispensor will no longer stay closed. The Plastic tab that holds it shut has basically disintegrated. Will this cause the dishes to not come clean? Can this part be replaced? I don't see any visable screws holding it onto the door.

Hi - welcome to FixYa,\015\012\015\012The first problem isn't a fault with the washer, it's a plumbing problem called "water hammer", which is a resonating vibration through your pipes. Recently our GU1100XTLQ1 started having a problem. It barely cleans the bottom rack, and barely gets top rack wet. The soap stays stuck in the dispenser. I can't see inside as it runs, but my guess is that not enough water is being shot out of the various spinning arms. From looking at diagrams it would appear that this dishwasher uses a pump to circulate water from the bottom of the cavity through the spinning arms. Is my problem a dying pump?

We have the same problem. At first, we were getting a horrible detergent film on everything. We thought that was because the detergent cup wasn't opening or the water was too hard or not hot enough. We kicked up the rinse agent as high as possible, switched to a liquid detergent, and only placed shorter items towards the door. The cup still wouldn't open consistently and our dishes still needed to be re-cleaned. We stopped closing the cup. No change. Why would liquid detergent leave a powder fil
