My dishwasher made some really grindy, crunchy sounds the last time it worked. I unscrewed the float and checked for debris in it, nothing there. When I got that off, there was a circular black fan-type thing under it(the motor??), that spins around and seems to be held in place with only one screw. I tried to access underneath that, and it doesn't want to do anything but spin around. How do I remove that to check underneath?? I don't want to break it. I put it all back together and tried run

The door would not shut. We checked all around and nothing was blocking the door from shutting. We determined the latch on the door was not releasing. I forced the door shut. The touchpad works...lights come on but unit will not operate. The release handle on the front just wiggles back and forth without effect. Lowes says it is one of three parts...none returnable. Any thoughts on what part and whether this is something average consumer can self fix? Thanks.

A voltmeter is very handy with a problem like this. If you have proof of power available at the junction box under the machine, then the next likely place to look is within the latch mechanism inside the door. There is usually a microswitch which act ... Admiral Dishwashers

I have a Kenmore model 665. It is having an intermittent problem. It goes through the fill cycle, and then stops. Timer does not progress either. Then, at some random moment, it will come back on and finish the entire cycle. This could even be a day or two later. Sometimes it seems a nearby thump will set it off, other times no one is anywhere near it when it comes back on. This happened for a month or so off and on 6 months ago, and then it worked fine for 6 months. Now it's back to it.

Our dishwasher was taking in water, circulating it but not heating it up or moving through the cycle. My husband took the control panel off and there were some scorch marks on it so we got a new one. I have a 13-year-old Maytag DWU9906BAE. It has worked well but the door now opens too far - about 20 degrees lower than horizontal. I've taken the door apart and the reason is that the upright part of the two L-shaped hinge plates no longer catch on the back of the door jamb; for some reason they are now angled too far out and miss the catch plate on the back of the jamb completely. I'm no expert but they don't look warped, nor does the frame that they attach to. They're made of stamped
