Having problems with your Dishwashers ?

All of a sudden, my Kenmore dishwasher (Model 363.1411691) will not cycle. When I lock it shut and try to set it to wash, all I hear is a click--no motor running, no water sounds. As I advance the timer knob, I just get clicks where each cycle should begin. There is standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher which does not drain out. Any advice would be much appreciated, for sure.

Answers :

Hi.

The clicks are simply the relays in the timer board that try switching on. The control module is likely working. The cycle does not start because of a different problem.

If no light is coming on, then ensure that wall socket is OK, and check fuse in power plug if plug is fused.

If there is water inside the tub, that is likely preventing the unit from starting.
Disconnect power.
Remove water from inside using a sponge.
You will need to check drain system and to remove additional water.
Check the drain well and remove remaining water. Remove eventual blockage.
Move the machine forward and check drain hose. Ensure it is not kinked or blocked.

After checking the drain lines and removing the water, connect power back and test the machine again.

If still does not start and fill, check the overfill switch (float). Try moving it with your hands (disconnect power first). A complete test can be done running a cycle with the float switch contacts jumped.

Next part to test is the door switch. This can be tested by reading Ohms at its terminals. In most cases it can also be tested by jumping it (door micro-switch, and not lock motor- this should be just a switch) .

If all that does not work, the rest of the testing job is done reading volts at control module, and in wiring to find out what the problem is.

Start testing power cord and outlet if there is no power whatsoever. Remove water and test drain system, that will prevent the cycle from starting.

Here all parts and diagrams for your appliance.

Regards.

Ginko.

During the cleaning cycle the dishwasher will stop working. The dishwasher is silent. The timer will continue and the water will drain out at the appropriate time.

This is probably okay, you have clock like motions running the motor electric contacts. There needs to be a delay between some cycles or shorting will occur. We can hear the dishwasher "clicking" throughout the cycle, but nothing else is happening, and about 10 minutes through the cycle water just comes pouring out the bottom of the door. There is a bit of a burning smell as well.

My Miele Platnum dishwasher is not working. It is flashing "intake/drain" When it begins instead of the normal hearing of water moving around you just hear a humming. My husband and father took out all the filters/baskets etc and made sure everything was cleaned out. They checked the hoses. After that it seemed like it was going to work because it started to cycle normally but now it is flashing again and this time there was water standing in the bottom of the dishwasher. Any thoughts?

Most common faults with dishwashers is a drain fault. Check for any kinked hoses and check the drain spigot under the sink where the drain hose connects into the u bend. Usually this is where food gets trapped due to the spigot not being drille ... Miele 23 in. Novotronic G841 Built-In Dishwasher

My dishwasher begins its cycle with a whirring noise, what sounds like the powder drawer then clicks open, but after that nothing happens. The water does not come in. The dial clicks round a couple more points, the machine 'whirrs' again, but still no water/washing action. The machine then just stops/cuts out. Is this a plumbing problem or an electrical problem?

GE GHDA485N 10CS Dishwasher that has standing water in the bottom after the cycle completes. I pulled it out and reconnected power and ran a rinse cycle. I could see that water was pumping out the clear drain pipe but there was still about an inch of standing water in the bottom. Any thoughts as to what part has failed. Does the system use a water level switch or a timed drain cycle to determine when the water has pumped out. If it is a timed cycle could a slow drain cause the problem. Thank you

When dishwasher is set to begin, sensor takes very long period of time. Cycles are longer than minutes indicated. Dishwasher fills with water but does not wash. Water then drains as though cycle is complete and moves to next cycle. Then the process continues. When cycle for drying is reached, much heat is given and occasionally it smells as though there is burning. A 82 minute procedure turns into hours.
