Thanks akubra_lands, it worked for me too on model DW28W. I thought I should elaborate on your answer for anyone else who comes across this while researching the same problem.
The repair is ridiculously simple (takes about 10min) and the only tools needed are 1 philips/posidrive screwdriver and 1 flat blade screwdriver. Assuming you've unplugged it from mains power:
  1. Tip the dishwasher on its right hand side (looking from the front).
  2. Remove 4 screws from the metal base - 2 front and 2 rear (the rear ones have anti-rattle washers on them).
  3. Pull the base away, taking care of the pair of wires leading to the flood indicator float switch which is still attached to the base.
  4. Remove all 4 screws which fasten the solenoid valve to the pipe which leads from the pump upwards to the center of the tank (which feeds the lower spray arm).
  5. Pull the solenoid/valve body off the pipe and you will see it has a whitish plastic flap with a hinge at the top end.
  6. Use the flat blade screwdriver to gently prize open one side of the flap hinge and twist the flap until it is completely free of the valve body. Put the flap to one side.
  7. Replace the valve body, without the flap, and secure all 4 screws.
  8. Reassemble the dishwasher. Done
Now take a moment to admire the handiwork of the engineer who planned the failure of that innocent little plastic flap around 6 months after the expiry of the warranty.
I actually had a repair man come and look at the problem, and yep, right on cue, he told me it needed a new pump motor. $300. When he realised I was on to him he just gave up. So hard for repair people to do an honest day's work these days..
I removed the half wash solenoid on the side of the water pump and notice the plastic flap was ajar and getting forced down with water pressure even though half wash hadnt been selected. i removed the plastic flap, replaced solenoid and bottom spray arm works fine now. we never use the half wash cycle so it was a good result for us.thanks for all your help. regards rob

Dishwasher I am getting a run around with getting my LG dishwasher fixed properly. We had a tech more than once come in and look at our dishwasher. It has not been fixed and never dried the dishes properly. It is now leaking and going to a "del" level when we attempt to wash the dishes. It is also leaking on our fairly new tiled floor and under our new kitchen cabinet. Your tech stated the dishwasher was not installed properly. I just bought a used Kenmore standalone dishwasher and ran it for the first time. The dishes on the top did not get clean and the soap did not come out of the closed soup dish. at one point I took a shower and was wondering if that might have influenced the water pressure enough to cause the problem. Is the soap supposed to open during the wash and could the poor water pressure prevent the top shelf from getting properly washed?

I have an SKT51 series (silver edition) Bosch free-standing dishwasher. The problem is that a few days ago, when the washing was over and I started emtpying the dishwasger I found in the dishwasher a grey plastic part with the number 5603000027 on it. Obviously, it got loose from somewhere, but I cannot find where it was. The washing quality since then is definitely lower, food remaining on the dishes, which are not properly dried. Our Asko dishwasher no longer cleans the top shelf of dishes properly. Fine white and black grit is left on the dishes after every wash, and if there is any food residue on the dishes it does not come off. The control unit was replaced 2 months ago at vast expense, and this problem only arose following the repair. The only suggestion from Asko to fix the new

My Asko D1976 dishwasher is not cleaning dishes properly. There is a lot of clumped detergent left in the dispenser after wash cycles are complete, and many of the dishes have dried-on food left on them. I think it has to do with the detergent not dissolving and dispensing. Is there some reason the

My Kenmore Elite dishwasher doesn't wash dishes properly. I think that it is not getting enough water in the machine. It only allows about an inch of water to get into machine and then starts. I have a Bosch Dishwasher Model # SHU43C that is not washing properly. Some dishes are not being cleaned if we don't pre-scrub or rinse. There are no error codes on the panel.
