Having problems with your Bosch 24 in. SHY66C05 Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher ?

We have a Bosch shy66c05uc. The dishes are coming out with a white chalky film. Does this model have a place for rinse aid? Can you tell me where, I don't have the manual and don't see a logical place for it.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

For start, yes your dishwasher has a rinse aid/jet dry dispenser, it is part of the detergent dispenser as shown in this image...provided the model is indeed shy66c05uc, i.e.
\015\012 \015\01220f1455.jpg\015\012 \015\012The rinse aid is dispensed or added under the cover next to the detergent drawer, if you lift up the cover you`ll see a round dial with numbers ( you may need to look closely ) simply pour the rinse aid in this section until full.\015\012 \015\012As for the cleaning/white film issue, that can be attributed to several factors. Some of which are too much detergent, not enough water, or not heating the detergent/water to a acceptable temperature to dissolve or rinse properly.\015\012
\015\012
\015\012**B/S/H/ also issued a recall on certain models between 1999 - 2006 depending on the model & serial number, but it doesn`t apply to yours. The issue was directly related to the heating circuit (specifically the heat relay on the control) Here`s the link if you want to see for yourself **

http://microsites.boschappliances.com/safetyrecall/dishwasher/

The other possibility I kind of alluded to is heating/the control, NTC or flow switch.

\015\012
\015\012My first suggestion would be calling in an authorized bosch service tech. if that is an option for you and your budget however, If you feel capable of checking this on your own, there`s a way to visually inspect the control yourself.

For a visual inspection it will require you to remove the control from the unit and then remove the control from it`s plastic housing and look for a burnt solder contact on the printed circuit board.

dabfa62.jpg

If it is a heating issue, The culprit will 99% of the times be one of the pins from the heater relay,

**Your control WILL differ in appearance, however the issue, the service and all the same info applies...except the part number. Yours will be # 219640**

26052ec.jpg

**Flip this over and inspect the solder joints, it will be obvious when you see it...the cover for your models control comes apart in a similar manner**

This is where and what to look for, except I`ve re-soldered this one already...

face585.jpg

...hence the unit sit`s and takes longer & longer to finish because it can`t heat to advance or unless the 2 buttons for "cancel" are pressed, other-times it will eventually stop with cloudy dishes or shoe "1" in the display.

The alternative to visually inspection ( though I strongly recommend the visual inspection ) you can also run the unit through a regular or econo cycle ...any cycle with the exception of rinse & hold, and with the door panel removed place an ammeter on the gray/black wire it should draw 11 amps during the wash cycle...after it fills and the flow switch indicates it has adequate water to engage the heater.

i.e.

f57273b.jpg
**My Opinion - if you or someone you know is proficient at soldering, a lot of times it can be remedied by simply repairing the solder...but it has to be done well...or it will not last, although Bosch recommend`s replacing the control ( # 219640 @ approx. $150 - $250USD...$175.99 at "searspartsdirect.com" ) and I don`t pretend to speak on their behalf nor do I profess to know better. This is just my experience (it work`s) and my opinion (why buy new if one can repair ?)**

**Please disconnect the power or turn off the breaker before attempting any service to the dishwasher.**

If you do not feel comfortable attempting this service, call a local pro, preferably one familiar with Bosch/Thermador/Gaggenau/Siemens, to service your machine.

Hope this answer`s your question, let me know if I can assist you further.

I have a 1999 bosch SHU 4300 dishwasher given to me. It worked great for about two weeks. Now it takes for ever *3-4 hours* to complete a cycle (if it does). I have opened the door to see it filled with sudsy soap after this long. I have checked the hoses and they are not kinked. Once the cycle of cleaning is over, If I reset it manually, it will rinse the dishes and empty just fine. But I have to manually get the dishwasher to advance to the rinse and dry cycle every time now.

I have a 13 month old (Thanks Sears warranty!) Kenmore Portable Dishwasher Model 665.17769. It drains poorly, taking 2-3 times after load is completed running thru the ''cancel/drain'' cycle to clean it out. It is not getting dishes clean either, presumambly because the dirty water isn't being flushed out at cycle end and instead of rinsing with fresh water, it's still screwing with the dirty water. Manual doesn't offer any advice except to see if the hose is kinked (it isn't). I made sure nothi
