KitchenAid Dishwasher fill up with water after use

\015 We have a KitchenAid dishwaser Model # KUDI02CRWH0 it filled up with water and flooded the floor when we were away on holidays. We ran a cycle through it and it seems to work but by morning it has water in it and is leaking again. What do I need to look at or fix to get this unit fixed with out calling in a repair man?\015\012I filled the sink with water and then opened the drain. The water did not drain into the dishwasher. The man at the dishwasher store thinks it is water from the sink, but I do not see why that would start happening when I have had a dishwasher there for 20 years. It usually takes 2-4 days to get water in the bottom of the dishwasher after we have run it. This time, we did not use the sink next to the dishwasher for 4 days, and no water has come into the dishwasher. However, I do not understand why when I filled the sink completely full and then took the plug out that no water went into the dishwasher. The hose which carries the water out of the dishwasher goes pretty much directly from the dishwasher positioned low and up to the pipe where the sink drains, positioned high. There is no loop in it. This is how it has been for 20 years with no problem. This is a plastic tube. The smaller metal tube which I assume carries the water into the dishwasher has a loop in it which I made sure it was looped up. My old dishwasher got water in the bottom one time (in February) I did not run it any more thinking it was broken. We simply bought a new dishwasher. Now that the new one is doing the same thing, I am puzzled as to why. Nothing has changed so why all of a sudden am I having this problem?\015

Hi BB,
There are only 2 places the DW can get water from. One is the drain line and the other is the supply line. We need to eliminate one to diagnose the problem, OK?

The first picture is a drain hose gone wrong...

Inspect your drain hose. If it looks like the pic above, you gotta fix that. Even IF that's not the problem right now... it will be in the future (and MAY be contributing to the problem now). You'll need to loosen the clamp, remove the drain hose from its' fitting, pull as much slack as you can get from the DW and then make a "loop" in it before reconnecting it. Like this...
4cc45a0.jpg

The DW drain loop should be as high as the highest part of the sink...

I know that you have done a lot of experimenting in an attempt to figure this out. Just make sure that the drain hose is installed properly to eliminate it as the cause of the flood issue.

After you've made sure about the drain hose, leave the DW alone overnight. If you see water in the tub the next morning, you definitely have a failed valve on your DW. Since it's new (less than a year?) the valve is under warranty and will be replaced at no charge.

Hope this helps. If it's out of warranty let me know and I'll do the part look up for you and provide detailed replacement instructions, OK?

Most of the time the drain hose makes a loop on the side of the washer and is under the insulation so you can't see it and some have a oneway valve after the drain pump. Sounds like the water inlet valve/solinoid is bad, this stops the water from just keep filling the washer when not in use, but the fill float valve,in most cases is in the front and to right on the bottom, looks like a mushroom, this stop's the washer from overflowing, once it is told to run. This tells the water fill valve to shut off when the washer reaches it desired fill level. So if this has overflowed, and has water in it when it is not called for, then I would say water inlet valve, or you would only see it overflow and not water in it when its not running.

It seams as though kitchen aid does not have the manual on there site. I will post a link for a appliance parts place that has a diagram
of your machine. Look at the diagram and then at the part where the water supply hooks on to the unit and see if you can get the part.

I have not worked on this model,so I am just giving generic advise,
maybe someone will know what it is and post it.

I have an Electrolux ESI 6104x. Regularly just after starting the dishwasher as it starts to fill for the first time the water inlet cuts out. If you turn the water off at the mains disconnect the inlet pipe (spilling a bit of water in the process) reconnect the inlet pipe and turn the water back on the dishwasher fills and runs perfectly. This fault used to happen occasionally and now happens regularly.

Disconnect the fill pipe from the back of the machine and you should see a small mesh strainer in side the dishwashers inlet valve. Check that this is not dirty - to clean it pull out the strainer and rinse under the tap. ... Dishwashers

My dishwasher emits a dead animal smell immediately after filling. I have a 20-year-old KitchenAid KUDS220T3 dishwasher. The racks are a little corroded, but it still cleans dishes just fine. About two months ago, it started smelling like a dead animal immediately after the dishwasher fills with hot water, during the time the water is being heated, but before agitation begins. The smell appears to be coming from around the door. If I open the door, everything inside the dishwasher smells fine.

Kenmore Dishwasher model 665.1675592 doesn't seem to wash as well as it used to. Seems to have a low water level. Filler valve works, allows water in, but never seems to fill enough. No spray reaches top shelf, I think due to insufficient water level. It's like the timer doesn't stay on long enough for it to fill. Also cycle time seems WAY up, but if the timer is slow, how does it time out filling so fast? Looks like it would be slow all the time. Suggestions?
