GE Profile Dishwasher not cleaning - older PDW7880GOOSS

\015 Our older GE Profile is not cleaning very well - I have removed the screen and cleaned it out many times over the years - it just isn't doing the job\015

My GE Profile Dishwasher PDW8280N00SS wouldn't clean the dishes. I found what looked like plastic particles along with food particles in the wash arm spray holes. I found that heat had warped the gray flat filter in the bottom allowing food particles to bypass the filter, and I found that the flexible plastic sump inlet was disintegrating internally shedding plastic which clogged the filter to the pump and getting into the pump. This shouldn't happen. The material that the sump inlet is made out of is too soft and porous. I noticed other components in the wash water system made from the same white flexible rubber which is an unacceptable material. I bought replacement parts at a cost of $100 for both and this has solved the problem. What's distressing is that the replacement parts appear to be made of the same inferior plastic. And I have noticed upon closer inspection that additional interior parts appear to be heat damaged (warped). This dishwasher has been used less than 4 years and problems like these in a high end dishwasher are unacceptable.

Older units require that dishes be rinsed before placing them into the dishwasher. Newer units have chopper blades in the drain system that can handle waste much easier. Best solution is to rinse the dishes before placing them into the unit or get a newer unit that can handle unrinsed washer loads.

I own a GE Profile Built-in Dishwasher Model number is PDW7880G00SS, Serial number is FF7872828.  We have recently been having major cleaning issues with it, especially the top shelf i.e. the glasses.  There is always dried up debris on them.  We always run the water hot and run it on "added heat" cycle.  I was wondering if there is a filter, or an area in the dishwasher that needs to be cleaned out?  Even if I put perfectly clean dishes in there, they will come out dirty, which leads me to thin

My dishwasher is a Profile Quiet Power II and is 8 years old. There is one person in my household, so it has not had a lot or wear. The issue is that the flatware and glasses do not come out clean. The flatware is often smudged and the glasses are cloudy. I have changed detergent several times and adjusted the settings and hot water. There is a self-cleaning filter. I am contemplating buying a new dishwasher but wonder if I would benefit from a service call.
