Having problems with your GE Dishwashers ?

The part by the sink causes water to flow all over the counter

\015 I just moved into a new place with this dishwasher. The first time I tried to use it the metal part that sits next to the sink filled up with water and started spilling onto the counter. I am not sure if it was supposed to be spilling into the sink, but it went everywhere so we just stopped the wash cycle. What do I need to do to fix this?\015

Answers :

Almost all dishwashers connect to the sink drain in one way or another. Many connect (via an Air Gap valve) to a garbage disposal.\015\012
\015\012If the "metal part" is at the rear of the sink, that is the top of the air gap. When water comes out of it, that means the drain is plugged.\015\012
\015\012If there is a garbage disposal, does water drain through it? Does the disposal work?\015\012
\015\012If there is no disposal, does water from the faucet run through the drain of each sink with no problem?\015\012
\015\012Thanks for answering these questions in a reply.

My dishwasher leaks water from the top of my sink when in the drain cycle mode causing a mess on the counter top. How do I stop this leak? The plastic cover to the part which is located next to the faucet is cracked but there appears to be no leaks on the hose or on the part itself. Also, what is the purpose of this part? Is this the actual drain for the dishwasher and if so, why doesn't it tie directly into the drain?

The overflow air drain on top of the sink that is connected to two hoses under the sink is leaking. It leaks out the top onto the counter. I took it abart but am afriad I did not put it back together right. There is a rubber ring that I think must be for sealing and I put it directly on the counter and then screwed down the air valve over this and water s coming out of the air flow valve and all over the counter.

A GE triton dishwasher causes hammer noise when stops filling. The sink faucet works fine as do all the other faucets in the house. I cleaned all of the traps in the dishwasher. Because the sink works, I don't think it is a sink valve problem. I turned off the water to the house and drained the system, the air chambers should be good. Is there some component of the dishwasher that could be causing the noise? Would cleaning the pump help? If so, how would I do that?

The cause of the hammering noise, (slamming) is due to the water inlet valve on the Dishwasher (DW) shutting off abrutly once the DW reaches the proper amount of water.\015\012\015\012If this is an older DW, you might want to replace the ... GE Dishwashers

Water won't drain from bottom of dishwasher. I pulled the dishwasher out, blew through the drain tube, disconnected the drain tube and felt around inside. Ok there. The dishwasher has not been in use for 4 months, due to low hot water flow. I replaced a clogged valve today and restored water flow, and I'm wondering if non-use causes a problem with dishwashers?

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your DW.Actually, yes. Not using a dishwasher for a while can damage some parts. Sediment from water damages the water valve. Food residues clogs the drain and drain pump. More likely the ... Dishwashers

Whirlpool dishwasher part #3385181. Machine had gone thru wash cycle and was starting to dry. Smelled electrical burning smell, opened washer door and washer was filled with smoke. During the drain phase water bubbles out of this little vent like gizmo that is attached to the dishwasher by a white flexible hose under the sink and is mounted on the counter top at the back of the sink. It floods the counter top?

My GSD5940Do1ss leaks from what appears to be a tube that is in the middle left of the underside. There are no leaks from the hoses or pumps. It only leaks when it is adding water during the wash or rinse cycle. The part it is leaking from looks like a plastic tube that is part of the tub enclosure. There are four of them and I think they are really the mounting guides for the tub enclosure, which means the water is probably flowing down the tub to this spot. I'm assuming that means my seal arou

Maytag Dishwasher I would like to know the proper water level after DW fills. Older Whirlpool units a quick guide was when water just covered heater. I have a new D/W and the water supply is difficult to access, there is a kink in the water line slowing the water flow. The D/W fills to bottom of heater, but because the unit is so quiet I can't determine if it is timing out or working properly. I intend to repair water line when counter work is done. Thanks for any help Gary

GE GHDA485N 10CS Dishwasher that has standing water in the bottom after the cycle completes. I pulled it out and reconnected power and ran a rinse cycle. I could see that water was pumping out the clear drain pipe but there was still about an inch of standing water in the bottom. Any thoughts as to what part has failed. Does the system use a water level switch or a timed drain cycle to determine when the water has pumped out. If it is a timed cycle could a slow drain cause the problem. Thank you

Frigidaire dishwasher (Electrolux FDB750RCB0) does not move water through the hose to the upper wash/spray bar. The lower wash/spray bar has pressure enough to turn. My Bosch diswasher is hanging up in the cycle (at 102 mins. in normal cycle and 38 mins in quick cycle). I hear what sounds like a one second pumping of water into the sink area, a pause, and then another one second pumping of water, on and on, but there's no progression beyond this point. Frigidaire 2405 Dishwasher has a direct drain into the floor and is too far from the sink to be able to drain into the sink pipes. Can I add a loop of drain hose from the floor drain up to the counter height, about 30", then back to the floor to mimic the loop that would be created by running to the sink drain?
