Lots of water under dishwasher

\015 My dishwasher is only a couple of months old and has been leaking up a flood. You suggested changing detergent. how much detergent is recommended? I usually use one of the premade tablets. is that too much?\015

Answers :

I use the tablets too. A simple change of soap won't create or cure a leaking dishwasher. I own the same HDT18PA dishwasher, also known as a POS.

Where is the leak coming from? You will need to remove both the shell and the lower pan from the dishwasher to be able to find this part. It is a water guide from the pump body that connects to both the lower spray head and the upper spray head. This is the MAIN water plumbing, once the water is within the dishwasher.

The part is manufactured from TWO pieces of plastic, and not melted together very well. The pressure from the pump is considerable, and these pieces of plastic have a large amount of flex applied from the INSIDE to them. They WILL FAIL, it is only a matter of time.

But in a statement to the build quality of this Haier, not even the BRICK that you will find zip-tied to the inside of the casing will be damaged by this leak... Only your counter, cabinets, kitchen... Those will all suffer from the Noah-esque floods that will be visited upon you when it fails without warning.

I've already taken this thing apart and rebuilt it once, using a heat welder to REALLY seal this plumbing together. It lasted 2.5 years of 1-2 times per week usage, and has now failed again.

I will not be replacing this in it's built-in location that I designed in my RV until it is either fixed with a METAL part that I will have to fabricate, or I find a new dishwasher.

I fixed Haier portable by removing the flat water tranfsfer pipe that split on the side. Dried it out and then drilled 6 holes along the edge and glued it with epoxy glue. I then put 6 little bolts through to give it a mechanical seal to resist the pressure. See the picture to get a better idea of what I did.
\015\012Once the bolts were in and tight I ran epoxy into the gap inbetween the two halves to make sure it was well sealed.
\015\012
\015\012I drilled and epoxied the other side to make it would not fail in the future. A mechanical seal made by the small bolts is needed to resist the pressure on the flat surface - the expandinng force is great due to the large surface area recieving the pressure.
\015\012
\015\012Be sure to put some of the epxoy under the head and the nut of the bolts to seal them.
\015\012
\015\012Good Luck!

How can I shut off the water supply to the dishwasher? It fills slowly with water from the top (while not running), and then water spills out over the kitchen floor.
