Pump makes a grinding noise - Kenmore 24 in. 15173 Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

Answers :

Small fruit\015\012pits, toothpicks, and fragments of glass sometimes get stuck in the\015\012pump. When this happens, open the pump and remove the debris. The pump\015\012is usually mounted directly to the motor, then attached to the bottom\015\012of the dishwasher.

To get to the pump, you usually need to\015\012remove the lower rack, the spray arms, and the spray arm support from\015\012the inside of your dishwasher. A dishwasher pump isn't obvious. Look\015\012for an impeller--a round, plastic fan blade-type device that spins\015\012around and pushes the water toward the drain. When you can see the\015\012drain impeller, you should be able to see the clogging debris.

Good luck...

I just bought a used LG LDS 5811ST stainless steel built in dishwasher. The previous owner said he bought it 4 years ago. It's in great shape but doesn't work. It powers up but the water is not pumping into the dishwasher. The previous owner said that he thought it was the pump. He said he took it apart once and cleaned a bunch of crud out of some hoses and it worked for a while then started making funny noise and stopped. When i got it home i powered it up and connected water hose. It seems to

We recently purchased a new pump for our frigidaire gld4355rf dishwasher. The old one started making grinding noises. When we moved the dishwasher it had leaked due to a failure of an interior seal. Our new pump is now making the same grinding noise but it is not constant. When my husband adjusted the pump by using his hand when he got into a certain position the noise stops. We keep the screens clean. Is there an issue with the pump in this model?

My kenmore/whirlpool dishwasher makes a noise, sort of a grinding noise, throughout most of the cycle. My guess is that the motor is making the noise, but I do not know how to tell other than by replacing the motor and seeing if the noise goes away.

I have a portable Sears dishwasher model # 66517769k600. It makes grinding noises when empying out the water, then stops. Sounds like maybe something is jaming the inpeller blades on the pump that removes the water as Water is left in dishwasher. It will restart in about 15 mins , run for 15 to 20 sec and stop again with same noises. What needs to be done to fix this issue? Approximate cost of part? Thanks in Advance, Chris

I have a Bosch SHU43C05UC diswasher. Last night, I put it on before going to bed as usual. I was awakened a couple of hours later to a loud grinding sound (like a pump being run dry), and found the noise coming from the dishwasher. The display read "0" time remaining, so I opened the door and the dishes seemed clean, so I left it shut off. Tonight I have been trying to troubleshoot the problem. The dishwasher will turn on, but it will not seem to fill with water. I have verified that the
