\015\012These are cheesy, inexpensive dishwashers that are prone to leaky\015\012pumps, as shown here (click the pic for the larger, annotated view).

\015\012The problem is usually a leaky shaft seal kit, shown here as Items 7 and 8 (click the pic for the larger, annotated view).
\015\012

\015\012Fortunately, the shaft seal kit\015\012is inexpensive; but it can be a ****** to install, depending on how\015\012much rust you’re dealing with. May require a destructive removal of the\015\012impeller, too, but ain’t no thang ‘cuz the shaft seal kit comes with a\015\012new impeller. Here’s a nice, purdy picture of a brand new shaft seal\015\012kit. And just to help motivate you a little more, the money you save\015\012from replacing just the shaft seal vs. replacing the entire motor-pump assembly is well over a Benjamin. So you go ahead and drill, cut, and chisel all you want on that old impeller!
\015\012wpl-dw-horiz-pump-shaft-seal-kit.jpg\015\012And Whirlpool just came out with a spiffy new DIY repair manual for this dishwasher, which will assist you mightily in the many repair adventures you are certain to have with this dishwasher:

FDW60 dishwasher Hi My dishwasher is about 15 months old and the problem I have is that it seems to stay on pump and the Ecco45 light is flashing.  A repair company looked at the machine and said that the motor looked like it was leaking and water was getting in the bottom setting off the micro-switch.  He contacted Hotpoint who fitted a new motor today at a cost of £89.85.  Went to use dishwasher tonight and we still have the same problem.  The dishwasher started the washing programme for about

I've just (as of 10 minutes ago) had the same problem. I followed the advice given elsewhere in this forum and removed the bottom cover - water running out so needed a big towel to mop it up. I stood the machine upright and restarted it - no problem! ... Hotpoint 24 in. FDW60 Free-standing Dishwasher

Water leaks from underneath the unit. Water only leaks when the pump cuts on (pressurizes). It leaks down on to the hose connecting to the water inlet valve on the right hand side of the unit when looking at the door of the unit. When the unit is full of water and the motor / pump is not running the unit does not leak. This unit is a Maytag jetclean dishwasher Model DWU9200BAB about 12 years old

My tappan dishwasher is only 1 1/2 yr old and its not getting at least 1/2 of dishes clean. We have tried everything from changing to liquid soap, increasing water pressure at meter, not using while washing clothes. We used a dishwasher cleaner to remove calcium, and run hot water in sink before using. We know the wand, pump and drain are working. It is model TDB210RFB5 with 1.1A motor. Is the motor too small to clean dishes? I wish I could get my money back or exchange for an upgrade. Thanks!

Dishwasher is not cleaning well, dirty film all over everything, like its not rinsing. In rinse cycle only, some water comes out of lower left port inside but nothing else. Hear a low buzz underneath unit like a motor or pump is energized but no water getting to the top.During normal wash cycle, buzz from underneath seems to cycle on and off, say every minute or so like its cycling on an overload. Do I have a bad pump and if so how do I get to it?

Kenmore (Whirlpool) 655 1589910 Dishwasher. Fills with water, motor makes horrible noise (buzzing / loud hum). Dishes do not wash and there is no evidence that any water pumped up to the spray arms. I took the bottom off tonight and ran the dishwasher so that I could see where it is leaking from. Motor problem?? The dishwasher takes in water then the water just sits in the bottom of the unit until the end of the cycle, there is no water going through the jets so the dishes are not getting cleaned. You can hear the motor but nothing is actually happening until the end of the cycle when it just pumps the water back out again

I am having trouble attaching 90 degree brass elbow to the plastic water inlet on my new Maytag Dishwasher. Getting leaks. Teflon tape hasn't worked. Cant seem to get the washer to seat properly when everything is tightened down. Wish the water inlet was not made of plastic. It appears it would seat the gasket properly if the water inlet was made of something more durable.

I have the two drawer dishwasher. It's about 10 years old. The top drawer continues to work OK but for the last three attempts when I run the bottom drawer water gets out into the drip pan below and gives the F1 signal. I can dry the drip pan out and clear the F1 signal so the top drawer works. But running the bottom drawer causes water to leak again with the resultant F1 signal. There is very little water in the bottom drawer (just a little in the filter bowl) so I think the pump is pumping

Hi, I have a Hoover silent whisper HD98E dishwasher and it's leaking. I know where the leak comes from. Once the machine is on, it pumps the water through the salt container and through these 3 pronged blue container (located on the side). One of these prongs leaks. I believe it is the washer.
