Having problems with your KitchenAid 24 in. KUDG25SH Built-in Dishwasher ?

It was running, most of the way through the first cycle, when there was a sudden clunk. Now, it will not drain. It sounds like the pump could be jammed--there is the periodic click of a relay which I assume is the over temperature cut out on the pump motor?

Hi,

Yes that might be one of the reasons. Whenever there is Drain Problem in dishwashers, always follow the below sequence to narrow down the fix :-

\015\012\015\012 \015\012 Drain line/air gap\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 A\015\012clog in the drain line or air gap (if there is one) is the usual reason\015\012that a dishwasher won't drain. Often the problem is at the point where\015\012the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain\015\012line. If you remove this line, you can clear any debris from the hose\015\012or hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the\015\012dishwasher again.\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Pump\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Your\015\012dishwasher pump ejects the water. The pump is usually mounted directly\015\012to the motor, then attached to the bottom of the dishwasher. You can\015\012reach the pump from inside the dishwasher, but first you need to remove\015\012the lower rack, the spray arm, and the spray arm support. \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Look\015\012for an impeller--a round plastic fan blade-type of device that spins\015\012around. This is the wash impeller, which forces the water through the\015\012spray arm. Beneath the wash impeller is the drain impeller, which is\015\012similar in size and shape to the wash impeller. The drain impeller\015\012pushes the water toward the drain port. These components make up the\015\012pump. If any of the pump components are defective, you need to replace\015\012them.\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Drain valve and/or solenoid\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Many\015\012dishwashers use a drain valve with an electric solenoid. When\015\012electricity flows to the solenoid, the valve opens and diverts the\015\012water to the drain. Sometimes the solenoid, or the diverting lever,\015\012sticks and prevents the dishwasher from draining or filling properly.\015\012Try to free up the solenoid to lubricate the lever. Otherwise, you may\015\012have to replace the solenoid or pump assembly. With these systems, the\015\012motor always rotates in one direction. When it's energized, the drain\015\012valve diverts the water. \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Other\015\012dishwashers simply reverse the direction of the motor to drain the\015\012dishwasher. These units don't have a drain valve. Instead, there's a\015\012drain hose connected directly to the pump housing.\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Belt\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 One brand of dishwasher uses a belt to drive the pump. If this belt is broken or has fallen off, replace it.\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Motor\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 If\015\012the motor isn't turning or working, the unit won't drain. First check\015\012to be sure you have power to the dishwasher. If not, see the section\015\012"It doesn't work at all." If the motor hums but doesn't turn, it may\015\012need to be replaced. \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Some\015\012dishwashers are susceptible to getting stuck if you don't run them\015\012regularly. If you haven't run the dishwasher for more than a week, you\015\012may need to manually spin the motor to free it up. If the motor is\015\012defective, you need to replace it. Dishwasher motors can't be serviced.\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Timer\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012\011\015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012 \015\012\015\012 \015\012 Part\015\012of what the timer does is control the motor and drain valve. If the\015\012timer doesn't work properly, the water may not drain and you need to\015\012replace the timer. This problem is uncommon.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

I have a Jenn-Air JDB9910AWB dishwasher. The problem I am having is everything seems to work fine until the drain cycle. It sounds like the pump is frozen. After selecting the drain button you can hear a click in the control panel followed by a 1-2 second growl in the pump but it doesn't turn or pump. I am assuming the pump runs in reverse for draining? Is it safe to assume the pump is bad?

Could it be the Control PCB in the front or maybe the small drain PUMP. Well some of you properly now what E06 is referring to on this model.
