White deposits especially on plastic, hard water, checked temp it's 140+, vinegar???

Answers :

Hi,
Yes, I have seen where some people have recommended dumping half a gallon of vinegar into the dishwasher then running a wash cycle...
You would need to do this after it fills for the long wash though and may have to take some water out and then replace it with the vinegar...

Our 16 year old dishwasher takes way longer to finish cycles, has become very loud and now no longer cleans the dishes - especially the top rack and the silverware. We have hard water and I have run it with vinegar in a bowl 3 times and have been cleaning all the deposits I can today. It doesn't seem to be draining out all the gunk. Water flow seems ok, the arms have nothing blocking them. Any instructions for me to follow to clean out the mechanisms? Or has it run its lifespan... Thanks!

The machine does not seem to rinse properly. We have checked the water fill level, water temperature, spray arms are not clogged, have determined it is not a hard water problem and have tried Glass Magic and CLR to verify the lattter. What else can we check to stop getting a film on everything in the machine? Plastics come out terrible, glasses and dishes foggy and sometimes still greasy. Dishwasher is 16 months old. Recently, it won't get tea stains from spoons or cups and there is a white film on plastics. I have run unit once with vinegar. I tried using less detergent and no change (Cascade Complete). (Neighbors using same detergnet on different machine with no problems so it's not the water.) I always select High water temp and air dry on normanl wash. My hunch is that the motor is going bad and therefore it is not pushing the water with enough force.

I have checked the heater element - seems to be hot, using Cascade powder as usual, we have and have had hard water, we do have a new water heater set on 'low' setting - temp of water measured at 113 deg at kit tap. Hi, we have a Bosch Exxcel dishwasher which mid way through a cycle a button saying Check Water came on. we turned the machine off and opened the door and found loads of water in the bottom. my husband then scooped all the water out and cleaned filter in the bottom, where we did find some bits of plastic from the kids yoghurt pots, and took the water hose off the back and checked for blockages, which there was none. the water is certainly coming from the water pipe through the hose as we tested

GE Dishwasher model PDW8200J03BB stopped draining. Removed the drain pump, checked with Voltmeter and there is resistance on ohms X10 of about 3. The flap is in place so water isn't shooting back into the sump inlet. Replaced the sump inlet about 6 months ago because it was deteriorated due to hard water. Pump worked fine after that. Checked drain hoses and air gap. Was able to blow water through. Pump only trickles water out at air gap. Does the pump need replaced?

The water is not draining from machine, although the pump is obviously trying. It doesn't sound quite right. Kind of a growling noise. It can pump water into tubs when experimenting with ideas, but can't pump hard enough to pump the water into the sink. This is all done with the hose removed so we could check for debris in the line. I've checked the filters and they are clean and clear. This is a used machine a friend gave me, and it's been working beautifully until now.

Dishwasher I have a whirlpool dishwasher that does not appear to be getting hot water. The washer water is cold initially and only seems to get warm once the heater in the base of the machine heats it. The hot water supply line does not get hot so I presume no water is being supplied. Is the water supposed to be hot at the start. If yes could this be caused be a faulty inlet valve and if so how can I check. The dishes are dirty especially on the top rack. Thanks for your help. I want to remove the white plastic wheel that propels water into the circulating arms. It is held with one screw which I cannot seem to be able to loosen. This white plastic wheel has 2 small holes in the surface which are perhaps there for some special tool to hold the wheel stationary in order to loosen the screw holding this wheel in place. Underneath this gray plastic housing is the heating element. I want to remove it in order to clean accumulated deposits of gunk.
