Light indicating load is clean lights up . when cancel is pushed drain pump is initiated. cannot get machine to fill up and cycle

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

With the symptom you`ve described ( specifically the clean lite ) this is an error of poor water circulation or a heating fault...many times manifesting in this manner but one in the same.

The first place to look for a remedy is the sump well, wash pump area. You`ll need to remove the lower spray arm and then the filter below it.

1 ) Remove the turbo wash tube if applicable to your model, it pulls off, i.e.

a6dcf7f.jpg

2 ) Spray arm removal. hold the center nut and spin the arm.

f634f7c.jpg
3 ) Now you can remove the upper spray arm supply tub or referred to sometimes as "rear feed cap".

a ) lift to depress the rear tab, i.e.

87fb0d6.jpg
b ) Then twist the feeder to the right ( clockwise ), i.e.

5f19a61.jpg
4 ) Now you can remove the center nut...

333a8e1.jpg

Then remove the four # 20 torx head screws holding the filter in place, and lift the filter out.

Below the filter you`ll find either alot of food debris, garbage etc. , but also a cover with either a single #15 torx head screw or it will simply be held with a lock tab which must be pushed to one side and the cover will pull straight up and out.

Now you should see the chopper and screen assembly, it to can be clogged up pretty bad, clean it best you can...you don`t really want to remove this part.

If my explanation is not clear enough, herre`s a link which provides a pretty good video of how to do this, these guys aren`t pro`s but the "how to" video is pretty thorough nonetheless.

\015\012
\015\012The other posibility is the heating element or wires going to it. to access this you`ll need to remove the toe panel/kick plate...

The element and wires are at the very back behind the sump assembly, so it is very tough to get at...I typically view it via a telescopic mirror and flashlight, or check it via the diagnostic attaching an ammeter to the live wire ( black ) near the junction box for amperage draw, below is an example...though your whirlpool will likely only pull about 7-8 amps.

7892f31.jpg
place it here clamp on the black wire...

f7b8a4e.jpg
If the element checks ok, the wires are attached ( if it draws amps, obviously the wires are attached ) then it is an issue with poor circulation as I alluded to initially.

Let me know how you make out, please keep me informed if you need further assistance or anything is unclear.

Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck.

My dishwasher skips the final drain cycle. The lines are all clean and there is no clog. It drains just fine in the beginning of the wash cycle. Every time I do a load of dishes I have to run the full cycle, then leave the machine open for 3-4 hours and start the cycle again and listen for the drain at the beginning of the wash to drain the machine from the initial wash and stop the machine after it is done draining so it won't fill up again. Dishwasher wont fill with water. just before it stopped filling i was turning the dial (a lot) between the wash cycles back and forth to attempt to get it to fill and drain (I didn't let it go through a cycle). We also removed the hose from the machine as it had split and replaced it and we had the machine tilted on it's side. the dial still clicks round but it sounds like the pump is going and it doesn't seem to be filling with water. Normal wash cycle- tub fills (?), then comes a loud hummmm and nothing happens. I noticed water level didn't reach heater coil and added water until limiter switch clicked. Still just a loud hummmm. Machine was well into its regular cycle when this first occurred, but now, won't even get past initial fill. Pushing the "Cancel/drain" button activates motor and pump: they work fine.

My G832SC is not draining at the end of the cycle. It runs the entire cycle, and the dishes appear to be clean. The soap dispenser has opened and the dishes are rinsed. However, the dry cycle doesn't run because the machine doesn't drain at the end. The intake/drain light is flashing. If I reset the machine and start a new cycle, it will perform an initial drain and the water level does go down. We checked the tri-filter and the valve pump thing, rinsed both.
