Does not drain - KitchenAid Dishwashers

KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS24SEBL does not drain after rinse. It goes through wash cycle, drains water completely , then it fills water for rinsing, runs and after that it does not drain. Cancel does not work after that. Water is very hot inside the tuba t that time. The dishwasher needs to be left for an hour or so before the cancel button can drain the water out.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher model # KUDS25SHBS1 has started making noise. Noise happens when unit is draining so perhaps its the same mechanism that houses the grinder. Can definetly hear a clicking as something spins around to drain the unit. I have removed the washing armature and plastic skirt around bottom and felt underneath the skirted area, but don't feel anything caught or jammed. We have a 2003 KitchenAid KUDI01IL Dishwasher that will not start . We had problems with the top rack dishes getting clean and we replaced the chopper. Is it common for Kitchenaid dishwashers to have water pooling inside them?
