HI. The first check point will be to check the inlet hoses for any kinks or bends in the lines that could prevent the unit from filling properly. Once you have verified that the lines are ok, move on to the principal issue. This will be the water inlet valve. You will need to inspect the valve for damage visually, and electronically. Follow the procedure below to address further.

To access the inlet valve remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel. The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connected to it. One hose will lead from the valve to the pump/motor assembly in the center of the dishwasher. Check that the hoses are securely connected to the valve and that there are no kinks in the hoses which could restrict water flow. There are two wires (four, if it has two solenoids) connected to the water inlet valve. Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire itself). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced. Use a continuity tester or multimeter to test for continuity. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements, but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly. If your valve has two solenoids, test the second one in the same way as the first.

Ok, if the inlet valve assembly proves to be functional, move on to the next area of concern. This will be the inlet valve filter. Check the inlet filter for build up of mineral deposits. If the valve is clogged, it will restrict water flow, thus, resulting in the IE code. Low water pressure at the valve will cause the IE code to show, as well. Make sure the water pressure running to the valve is between 20-120 psi. Another issue that will induce this particular code will be a improperly installed drain hose. If the drain hose is not installed properly, water will drain, prematurely, thus, causing a slight siphoning affect. This will result in the IE code appearing. make sure the drain hose is installed correctly. I would also advise to check the level of the unit, as well. Improper leveling will induce this code, also.

Now, if no errors in the above areas were detected, and the inlet test proved its operational value was optimal, move on to the last area of concern. This will be the wiring harness(inside the door panel, on lower section of the door panel). This is a more common occurrence when dealing with your model. The wires tend to become buried in the tar like insulation that is placed inside the door panel of your unit. This will cause the wires to break as the door is opened and closed, over time. This breakage will separate important wires, thus, inducing the IE code, and rendering your unit useless. You will need to replace the entire wiring harness, in this case. I would replace the insulation in the door, as well.

That concludes the most important areas of concern here. Use caution when testing, and unplug the unit, as well.

GLD4050 DW won't pump out at any time during wash cycle. Removed lower arm, screen, etc. and washed and cleaned out everything. Removed drain hose and cleaned it out. Reinstalled and ran again. At no time during he cycle does the water pump out. HOWEVER, if I put my hand on the drain pump I can feel and hear the pump running as usual at the right times in the cycle. What else could be preventing the pump out? Thanks!

I had a service tech at my house to repair my refrigerator. He also took a look at my Maytag WU504 dishwaser, which was not cleaning the dishes anymore. He was less familiar with dishwasher diagnosis, but found that the lower spray arm was pumping out water through the jets properly in the cycles, but that the spray arm was not rotating. He seemed stumped and called his supervisor, who suggested it might be the wash impeller. I have looked at the parts diagram on partselectdotcom and taken t

Noticed dishes on top shelf not entirely clean. Ran machine empty and opened many times during wash. Noticed that Lower Spray Arm works as expected, but Middle Spray Arm turns only 1/8 or less, then Lower Arm spins again. Schematic with Use and Care manual just says pump motor switches from one to the other in certain cycles, but I don't see this happening. Looked for obstructions to water flow and pressure seems normal. Is control for this function part of the pump, or in the control panel?

My GE Nautilus DW doesn't fully drain. When it is drained as much as it will it leaves water in the sump at the rear right. If you run the pump at that point, it sucks water out of the sump, but when you open the door and the pump stops water flows back into it. It seems like there is a check valve that isn't working. I have cleaned the sump and the screen which runs accross the rear. I also have taken the plunger out and cleaned it. Then I took the housing for the plugner off the bottom. I don'

I have a frigidaire dishwasher - model number PLDB998AC1. There are two spray arms in this dishwasher - lower and upper. The lower works fine but the upper spray arms are not spinning. My lower rack will not clean bowls or cups and I have to be very careful how I place plates. The serviceman has been out twice and I have run vinegar through multiple times with no improvement. Even glasses placed on the lower rack that weren't very dirty seem to have a scum in them when finished. Any ideas?

Recently our GU1100XTLQ1 started having a problem. It barely cleans the bottom rack, and barely gets top rack wet. The soap stays stuck in the dispenser. I can't see inside as it runs, but my guess is that not enough water is being shot out of the various spinning arms. From looking at diagrams it would appear that this dishwasher uses a pump to circulate water from the bottom of the cavity through the spinning arms. Is my problem a dying pump?

The upper sprayer arm doesn't seem to be spinning when running (I open the door and look really quick) and the lower one looks like it barely spins and barely sprays water. Dishwasher just started leaving food residue on dishes after washing. We usually don't rinse beforehand but even when we do this it's still happening.
