Having problems with your Maytag MDB9600A Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher ?

I have a Maytag dishwasher #MDBF. It has started leaving small pieces baked onto the glasses and dishes. I have checked the output tube and it seems to be clear and I find nothing in the bottom strainers. can you suggest anything for me to look at?

Hi If the dishes are still dirty after the dishwasher has completed running, first check that you have the right wash cycle selected. This is because you may have selected a short cycle to save water and energy, but it is inappropriate for the load. If that's not the issue, check the water temperature, internal filters, detergent cup, drain valve, pressure switch, sprayer arms, and the water-inlet valve.

Water Tempreture:

Good water flow, water pressure, fresh dishwasher detergent, and warm water are all required for an optimal washing cycle. If the water is not hot enough, the dishwasher can not clean the contents as effectively as possible. To test the temperature, turn on the hot water at the sink to see if the water is getting warm quickly. The selector switch on your unit may let you select a higher temperature setting. You can try that to see if it helps with cleaning. Be careful if you increase the water temperature of your household hot water heater. Your hot water heater must be set to deliver water at about 120F. This may help, but you don’t want to get scalded by it when taking a shower or washing your hands. Most dishwashers use an internal heater to increase the water temperature to 140-150 degrees Fahrenheit before it will start cycling the water through the spray arms. On some models you can use the Added Heat or Wash Heat Boost selection to increase the wash water temperature. Some dial timer models will let you select Hot Start or other extended washing cycles. Check to make sure that these recommendation are in action.

Internal Filters:

To keep the water free of debris during recirculation, every unit will have some kind of filter. Excessive food debris may clog internal filters. Make sure you at least scrape the dishes into the trash first. On some models these filters are self-cleaning, and they don't need to be cleaned regularly. Other models have filters in the bottom of the tub that you do need to clean. You can easily remove these filters. If a filter is full of debris, the water can not circulate properly, thus, causing the dishes to remain dirty. Check to make sure the filter is not blocked or clogged with debris.

Detergent Cup:

The detergent cups will occasionally get caked up with old detergent. This can stop it from opening when it's supposed to. You can try to scrape off the buildup. It may not be worth the effort if it's caked badly, and would save you aggravation just to replace it.

Drain Valve:

During the drain cycle, the drain valve should open to allow the dirty water out. When the drain cycle is over, this valve is supposed to remain closed to prevent water from leaving the dishwasher until the next drain cycle. If any obstructive materials plugs the valve, it will not close or seal properly. If it is not sealed, water will drain out while the unit is washing the dishes. If this is happening, you will hear water running in the drain pipes from the dishwasher. This is a sign that you need to clear the obstruction or replace the drain valve. One of the reasons for dirty dishes may even be that the drain valve is clogged and won't let dirty water out. This is quite common.

Pressure Switch:(float switch)

A faulty pressure switch can sometimes leave dirty water in the unit, or not let the unit fill to specs. If you notice too much water left over in the machine after a cycle, this switch could be defective. Sometimes the float itself can get all gummed up with mineral and food deposits and stick in the float tube. It must be replaced, if this is the case.

Clogged Sprayer Arms:

Occasionally, the spray arms will become clogged with debris. This can be caused by food or even hard water deposits. This prevents the water and detergent from getting to the dishes to clean them. If you notice a clog try to use a pipe cleaner, straight pin, or toothpick to clean the holes, or just replace the spray arm.

Water Inlet Valve:

The water-inlet valve is another possibility. This valve is connected to the main water line from the house. If the dishwasher can't get enough water, it can't wash the dishes. This valve is actuated by a solenoid system. If it loses power, it can not turn itself off. To access the inlet valve remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to reach the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel. The water inlet valve can be identified by the water hoses connected to it. One hose will lead from the valve to the pump/motor assembly in the center of the dishwasher. Check that the hoses are securely connected to the valve and that there are no kinks in the hoses which could restrict water flow. There are two wires (four, if it has two solenoids) connected to the water inlet valve. Label the wires and connections so that you can properly reconnect them later. The wires are connected with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire itself). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If either is corroded they should be cleaned or replaced. Use a continuity tester or multimeter to test for continuity. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each terminal. A reading of infinity indicates a bad solenoid that must be replaced. Different brands and models will have various measurements, but the valve should show some resistance if it is functioning properly. If your valve has two solenoids, test the second one in the same way as the first.

\015\012Thanks for using FixYa. Please check that the powder\015\012soap, if you are using it, is not stale and clumping together and always store the\015\012soap in a dry environment. If so try a different liquid or gel detergent. Also,\015\012make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded. Check\015\012that the dishwasher is filling properly. To check the proper filling dishwasher\015\012will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more\015\012below the heating element, then there is a low water pressure or a problem with\015\012the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water\015\012around with enough pressure. For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at\015\012the entrance of the fill valve. Sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow\015\012the proper water into the dishwasher. And, check the spray arm and pump cover\015\012for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not\015\012accumulated in the dishwasher. If it is in accumulated in the dishwasher then\015\012check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump. Please do accept the solution if\015\012the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

I stopped using my dishwaser because it left crusted on food particals even tho I rinced them well(so I thought) before loading. It was as if they were just being dried crusty. After a couple month I noticed a bad smell. I looked in the dishwasher to find standing water in the bottom. I ran a little CLR through and it cleared out. But a couple weeks later again there was water in the bottom. It seems as if the water from the sink is draining into the washer. If I run it it runs thru just fine, n
