Having problems with your Maytag MDBH985AWB / MDBH985AWS 24 in. Built-in Dishwasher ?

Dishwasher is 16 months old. Recently, it won't get tea stains from spoons or cups and there is a white film on plastics. I have run unit once with vinegar. I tried using less detergent and no change (Cascade Complete). (Neighbors using same detergnet on different machine with no problems so it's not the water.) I always select High water temp and air dry on normanl wash. My hunch is that the motor is going bad and therefore it is not pushing the water with enough force.

Hello, there are a few thinks to check on the dishwasher. Circulation, drainage - no backflow back into tub, and water temp. If all three are good, then you have hard water. \015\0121. circulation - These MDB models are very good with water circulation and I haven't had many issues with this at all. But, put all of the spray arms in one position, close door and run, open door, and verify the arms are moving. Also make sure there are not blockages in the spray arms.\015\0122. Heat. You MUST run the water in the sink so that the water temp gets hot BEFORE starting dishwasher. The dishwater heater element does not stay on all the time and if you have cold water going into tub, that's what you're washing with. Would you wash dishes in the sink with cold water? :->. Verify the heated dry is working and that dishes aren't coming out wet.\015\0123. Verify your drain hose is mounted to the bottom of the counter-top, under sink. Or, verify the air gap is not clogged. Also verify your sink is not clogged and drainage is good. You don't want water gookus to siphon back into the tub.\015\012If everything is good, try lemon-shine at walmart. This will remove hard water deposits on dishes. \015\012By the way, please DO NOT use air-dry. Use "heated dry" or just do not select "air dry". There''s not enough air circulation, arguably, to prevent gookus, mold, buildup on and around the sump assembly - which will eventually get deposited on dishes.

I have an older dishwasher also and recently my wife also complained about it not cleaning right... so me being the man I am tried in vain to clean the things... Bought new spray arms online and installed them in minutes...now the thing works like new... However I have also found that if the heating element goes bad then that also can mess things up bad... So I would buy new spray arms, and also check out the heating element to make sure it is working... Here is a tip that will help you with the online buying...

The pressure was at about 2300 PSI before it stopped. Any ideas?

Dishwasher fills with water, but spray arms don't spray water or spin. As the cycle moves forward, water is eventaully pumped out (so the pump is working). i've selected different cycles with the knob on the front of the machine but they all work the same.... no swishing with the spray arms. When the cancel button is pushed, the water is pumped out... as it should. Thanks for the help.

The water is not draining from machine, although the pump is obviously trying. It doesn't sound quite right. Kind of a growling noise. It can pump water into tubs when experimenting with ideas, but can't pump hard enough to pump the water into the sink. This is all done with the hose removed so we could check for debris in the line.
