
A-WASH MOU signed in Guinea

The A-WASH Guinea program was launched through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed on September 16th, 2011 at the U.S. Embassy in Conakry, Guinea. Representatives from the U.S. Embassy, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, Catholic Relief Services and Millennium Water Alliance signed the MOU.

U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Launches New WASH Program

U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Donald Teitelbaum was joined by Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works, and Housing Dr. Hannah Bisiw to commission a 20-seat toilet and handwashing facility as part of a water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in schools Initiative financed by USAID.

A-WASH Tanzania Brings WASH to Kiwanja Primary School

On March 30, 2011, Alfonso E. Lenhardt, the U.S. Ambassador to Tanzania, launched A-WASH Tanzania during an event at Kiwanja Primary School. Working with Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Ambassador Lenhardt brought clean water, sanitation and hygiene to the Kiwanja Primary School in the Kitmori sub-village of Tanzania.

At the October 13, 2010, U.S. launch event for Raising Clean Hands, Under-Secretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs Maria Otero underscored the importance of WASH in Schools by highlighting the newly-launched Ambassador’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools Initiative (A-WASH).

Coca-Cola Supports A-WASH

The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation (TCCAF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) pledging support for the Ambassador’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools Initiative (A-WASH) through the Foundation’s Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN). RAIN is TCCAF’s signature community initiative and seeks to bring drinking water to 2 million Africans by 2015.
