Having problems with your Westinghouse Dishwashers ?

Have a Westinghouse 905 dishwasher (guessing approx 5-10yrs old). When I turn it on it's starts is cycle as expected then stops after about 10mins and loses all power (can't turn it on or get any lights to light up for sometime almost like it needs to cool down) at this point the dishwasher is full of water. It is not the pump however as as soon as you can get power to it (sometimes some hours later) and turn it on the first thing it does is pump out the water. Any ideas??

Answers :

It is likely the thermal relay is tripping. This could be because if you are feeding hot water to inlet the temperature of water is too high, or the dishwasher heater is faulty and overheating the water. Or it is also possible the thermal cutout is sensing incorrectly and causing the dishwasher to turn off as expected.

\015\012If you think inlet water temperature is not problem then you will have to check the heater or thermal relay (also called thermistor).

Yes, the board is defective. Replace it. Put a power surge plug onto the power cord. Helps a lot with future surges.

Hi, the Council shut the water off to our house then when the water was turned back on I put the Whirlpool dishwasher on and now every time I try to use the dishwasher it cuts the power to the house. Will i need to get a technician out to look at this problem?

Hello - Probably, but someone with basic electrical skills can check the wires in the power connection box under the unit. If these wires look good, the problem is best left to a pro. Disposal plugged up and water backed up into dishwasher. Cleared disposal and dishwasher drain line. Checked around sump but dishwasher won't pump out. Sounds like pump is trying to run. I can blow air through the drain hose from the disposal and get bubbles in the water. Turned off breaker for 1 min. then tried reset. Can hear pump humming.

The pump is humming because its still trying to get all the water out of the unit. Deinstall the dishwasher and pull the entire dishwasher out from under your cabinet. Next step would be to disconnect the drain line from the drain pump and check to ... Dishwashers

My Bosch diswasher is hanging up in the cycle (at 102 mins. in normal cycle and 38 mins in quick cycle). I hear what sounds like a one second pumping of water into the sink area, a pause, and then another one second pumping of water, on and on, but there's no progression beyond this point. One possible cause: a few weeks ago someone turned off the hot water at the heater and another person tried to run the dishwasher. The dishwasher did not function because it could not get hot water. My ASKO 1805 Dishwasher started to smell weird and white smoke came from it. I turned it off, but after I turned it on again it just keeps pumping water in and out, I can't get in contact with it (None of the indicator lights are working and it is not reacting to any commands) In addition the safety feauture that is supposed to stop all operation the moment the door is opened is no longer working. Dishwasher overflows I have a Maytag PDB3600AWX dishwasher. The pump works well, pumps all water out of the tub when reaching the appropriate cycle state. However, it keeps taking in water when it's not running / turned on (e.g., overnight) and the tub starts overflowing, cuasing obvious leakages (to the basement). What part needs to be replaced? Thanks, C Artz

Sounds like you've got a problem with the water intake valve(s). If it takes on water without water running in the sink, that is where I would look. If it happens when you use the sink, then I would also check your drain hose placement ... Dishwashers

I have a Gallery 900 series GLDB958AS dishwasher. The cycle status lights (just right of the "time remaining" status window) continually blink. None of the buttons on the front panel work and every 10 minutes or so the water pump starts up for about a minute then shuts off. No water enters the dishwasher. I tried turning the power off then on but there is no change. Every so often a random cycle light will blink or light up for a minute, then turns off.

Hi - my Viking dishwasher has developed a problem where the pump runs continuously, whether the power switch is ON or OFF. After the power is turned ON, the troubleshooting guide indicates that there is too much water in the dishwasher. (One of the pot symbols on the display flashes continuously to show this indication.) I am unable to switch between programs, e.g., from quick rinse to pots & pans. I cleaned all the filters to no avail. I had to secure the circuit breaker in order to turn t

Dishwasher pump will not turn off. When I turned the dishwasher on it sucked the water from our sink?!! and now the pump is staying on. I just had the plumber here and he managed to get it working but halfway through the cycle it is doing it again!

The engine starts cold after 2 or three pulls, runs ok initially, but seems to have slightly less power. After a few minutes I can turn off the choke. When teh engine warms up and runs for about 15 minutes, there is a definite power decrease and the motor sounds like it will stall. If I paly with the choke, it does not stall, but has little power to pump water. If the engine does stall or it is turned off, it will not restart until it cools down.

I would first try draining the carb bowl, if you look at where the choke lever is and look below that you should see a clear red tube with a flat head screw below that, if you just turn the screw out the carb will drain. If you still have an issue yo ... Karcher G3025OH Pressure Washer
