If I cancel or open it, getting it to finish the cycle or even drain takes many tries.Once started, the cycle might take several hours with long pauses during the cycle. When it puases, none of the lights are on at all. If the cycle is disturbed, the normal wash light blinks, and if I hit cancel, the cancel light and the normal wash light blink.

I have a Whirlpool DU1048 that started out with a blinking clean light. I reset the dishwasher by pressing the heated dry and normal buttons twice. That worked the clean light stopped blinking. The problem now is the dishwasher seem to be stuck in the wash cycle. I finally have to turn it off after over an hour washing. Is this possibly a heating element problem? is that user replaceable?
