To replace the element you have to pull dishwasher out from under cabinet and then it is easy to replace by taking off the 2 nuts holding it down and removing the 2 wires / larryyb / be sure to kill power to dishwasher before starting
Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls confirm the model, your post "IUD8000RSO" or could it be "ADP 8000".

Alternately, if things are stuck, might it be possible for you to check for continuity. The actual component need not be removed, just one of the wires leading to it. A DVM or VOM can then be used to check. If there is no continuity, then it could be forced out since it is already defective, however if the continuity proves that it is still intact, then there would be no need to remove the heater. Another component that directly interacts would be the thermostatic switch or fuse. If this is open, then even if the heater is good, the unit will not heat up.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Underneath this gray plastic housing is the heating element. I want to remove it in order to clean accumulated deposits of gunk.
