Got spark, no fire. Dipped plug in gas. Not ENOUGH spark?

\015 I was given a power washer with a 6.5 hp Quantum (no primer). Like new but engine seized after 2 uses. Oil was full and clean. After complete teardown and analysis, i concluded that a large metal shaving blocking the lower crank bearing (not a bearing) caused its seizure. I very carefully used wet stones and sandpaper to restore both surfaces. Surprisingly, it seemed to work with almost no play once reassembled. Excited as i was, i didn't take the time to research how to properly time it. it seemed like everything could only go together "the right" way, but i'm starting to wonder. Turning the crank, it looks as if the piston and valves are timed perfectly. The person who gave me this puzzle gave me the air intake and carburetor in pieces in a box. This i think i s where the problem lies...couldn't be my workmanshit. But i have spark, tried dipping the plug in gas...and no fire. Tried it in CHOKE mode and wide open and everything in between. I'm losing confidence quickly. Any advice?\015

Ok lets assume for a moment that it does not even fire with gas inserted into the spark plug hole. Given that we have to assume there may not be any compression. Have you tested the compression?
\015\012Just for girns lets do so.
\015\0121. Remove the spark plug
\015\0122. Get yourself an old paint brush and make a plug for the spark plug hole so that the plug made from the paint brush handle inserts no more than the depth of the spark plug when installed.
\015\0123. Have someone hole the brush handle in the hole by depressing it HARD into the hole as the engine is pulled through. You should hear a pop as the piston compresses the cylinder air. If you do NOT hear a pop then you have the valve timing cam assy 180 degrees out. You will need to remove the cam and rotate it one full turn WITHOUT turning the crank shaft then re-align the timing marks (DOTs) on the gears.
\015\0124. After making sure the cam timing is correct.... check for compression. You SHOULD have compression at this point even if it is poor. If there is no compression you may have to re-rotate the camshaft back to the original position.
\015\0125. Remove the cylinder head and check for a visible ring on both the intake and exhaust valve mating areas at the valve seat. If there is NOT a visible ring the valve then you will have to disconnect the spring clip on the valve so that you can hand lap the valve and valve seat with grinding compound. (DO NOT remove the springs from the engine just unhook the keyholed clips on the top of the valve stem)
\015\0126. Valves and Valve seats known to be good. Install the valve spring clips.
\015\0127. Install the cylinder head gasket and head.
\015\0128. Check for compression If you do not have compression at this point.. then either the cylinder block is cracked or the pistion rings are in horrible shape or possibly not staggered on the piston.
\015\012COMPRESSION established
\015\0129. Squirt a splash of gas into the carb throat and attempt a start.
\015\01210. If it starts and shuts down at this point we can talk about the carb in a future response. Just respond here and I will get back to you. We are notified of any client responses.
\015\012Thanks for using FixYa.
If you have spark and you have fuel. When you had the choke on could you smell the fuel. With the choke on full you will eventually flood the piston which you can smell. If you don't smell fuel then you have a blockage somewhere a sticky float, dirty screen. If you have fuel present in the piston then your going to have to do a compression test its the only way your going to find out. Low compression can be caused by bad rings, cylinder walls scratched, out of round, or valves not seating properly. This has to be done with a compression tester cause you won't be able to with the eye. Engines can be broken down into 3 basic parts to make it fire. Spark, Fuel, Compression. It has to be at least one of the three. I hope this helps give you something to go on will be glad to help you further if you have any new questions on tests you've done and their results. Jeff

Karcher 2400R I have not used my pressure washer for 6 months. It was left full of gas in the garage. I tried to start it but it would not fire up so I change the gas, oil, and spark plug, took apart the carburator and cleaned it out with carb cleaner. I went ahead and put everything together, pull the cord and wanted to start. While trying to start it after I sprayed starting fluid in the air cleaner I noticed that gas was coming back from the crankcase breather hose into the air filter choking
