New York: The Yankees are looking to fill some gaps in their lineup this offseason. With Juan Soto signing elsewhere, trading for Cody Bellinger seems like a smart move.
Bellinger has experience playing four different positions, which gives manager Aaron Boone a lot of options. Even though there were rumors about him playing center field, Bellinger confirmed he’s open to playing wherever the team needs him.
“I told Boone I’ll play wherever you need me,” Bellinger said. He’s ready to step in at left, center, or even first base if needed. He just wants to help the team win.
He’s played the most games in center field, where he even won a Gold Glove in 2019. With Aaron Judge moving back to right field, left field is still up for grabs, and Bellinger might get a shot there.
The Yankees are also on the lookout for a first baseman to replace Anthony Rizzo, but Bellinger has played there too, so he can fill in if they bring in another outfielder.
