New York: So, the Mets are really interested in Alex Bregman, huh? According to Mark Feinsand from MLB.com, they’re not the only ones. The Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, and Blue Jays are also in the mix.

It seems the Astros offered Bregman a six-year deal, but he turned down their one-year qualifying offer. With the Astros trading for Isaac Paredes and possibly eyeing Nolan Arenado, it looks like Bregman’s return there is uncertain.

If the Mets do snag Bregman, it might make it harder for them to keep Pete Alonso. David Stearns and Steve Cohen have been pretty clear about wanting to hold onto Alonso, but his market hasn’t really taken off yet.

Imagine if Bregman joins the Mets! They could shift Mark Vientos to first base. Bregman’s been a solid hitter for almost a decade, and he could really help protect Juan Soto in the lineup.

Plus, if Bregman teams up with Francisco Lindor, they’d have one of the best defensive infields around. If the Mets think Bregman’s off year in 2024 was just a fluke, it might be a smart move to go after him.

And don’t forget about the Yankees. They’ve been busy with pitching, signing Max Fried and trading for Devin Williams, but they still need to boost their lineup after losing Soto. They’re also looking at Cody Bellinger, but there’s a chance they could fit both Bellinger and Bregman in if the deal is right.
