The Rangers struggled against the Predators, losing 2-0 and leaving fans frustrated with their performance and mixed messages from the team.
New York: The Rangers had a chance to turn things around against the Nashville Predators, who have been struggling lately. But they ended up losing 2-0 on Tuesday night.
They started off strong in the first period, but that didn’t last long. A defensive slip-up led to a goal by Jonathan Marchessault, and the Rangers just couldn’t bounce back.
Even though they played a more organized game and had some offensive moments, they didn’t create enough good scoring chances. It felt like they were a bit out of sync.
In the third period, down by one, the team didn’t seem to have that urgency, which really frustrated coach Peter Laviolette.
“What I didn’t like was the third period,” Laviolette said. “We needed more when you’re down 1-0. We’re just not getting it done right now.”
Now, the Rangers have lost 11 out of their last 14 games, and the frustration is really piling up.
“We are in the business of winning, so when you’re not winning, it’s frustrating,” Laviolette added. “We’ve got to find our way out, and we need to do it quickly.”
After the game, Laviolette was pretty aggressive in his tone, while the players tried to keep things positive.
Chris Kreider mentioned that the team needs to simplify their game to get back on track. “Take it one game at a time,” he said. “Win one game, learn from our mistakes, and build from there.”
“If we keep talking about it, we’re going to stay in it. We’re not the team we were yesterday or two days ago. We have a chance to win the next game, so let’s move on and focus on that,” Kreider added.
The Rangers will hit the ice again on Friday night against the Dallas Stars.
