With Juan Soto off the table, the Red Sox are targeting five key free agents to bolster their roster this offseason
Boston: So, Juan Soto is officially off the market, and the Red Sox missed out big time. He went for a whopping $765 million with the Mets, leaving the Sox in the dust with their $700 million offer. Ouch!
It’s tough to swallow, especially since they thought they could sway him with some nostalgia about David Ortiz. But when the Yankees were in the mix with a $760 million offer, it was clear this was all about the cash. The Red Sox just couldn’t compete.
But hey, it’s not all doom and gloom. The Sox are still looking to make some big moves this offseason. They’ve got needs, like starting pitching and some right-handed hitters, and they’re ready to spend. They’re not just going to sit back and sulk.
So, who are they eyeing? First up is Alex Bregman. He’s got the experience and the skills, but he’s also getting up there in age. Still, he could be a game-changer for the team.
Then there’s Teoscar Hernandez. The Sox missed out on him last year, but he’s been a beast at Fenway. They could really use his power in the lineup.
Max Fried is another name on their list. He’s been solid with a low ERA, and the Sox could really use a reliable starter. Plus, if they snag him, it would be a blow to the Yankees, who are also interested.
Corbin Burnes is another top pitcher they’re considering. He’s got a Cy Young under his belt and has proven he can handle the AL East. The Sox need someone like him to lead their rotation.
Lastly, Tanner Scott could be a great addition to the bullpen. He had an All-Star season and could bring some much-needed firepower to the late innings.
So, while they missed out on Soto, the Red Sox are still in the game and looking to make some noise this offseason. Let’s see how it all plays out!
