I want to remove the white plastic wheel that propels water into the circulating arms. It is held with one screw which I cannot seem to be able to loosen. This white plastic wheel has 2 small holes in the surface which are perhaps there for some special tool to hold the wheel stationary in order to loosen the screw holding this wheel in place. Underneath this gray plastic housing is the heating element. I want to remove it in order to clean accumulated deposits of gunk.

I have a DU8000XX6 series Kenmore dishwasher that won't drain the water properly. There is about a half inch of water in the tub and the float is raised (not sitting on tub bottom). When I lift up the float a little more I can hear the float switch make. I would assume that when the water is high enough the float switch makes and energizes a solenoid valve in the drain to drain the water, but shouldn't it stay open until all the water drains? I have two problems with my GUI1500 dishwasher. The 1st is that when water starts entering the dishwasher I hear a loud hammering/vibrating sound. It's strange, but the sound will stop if I turn on a faucet in the house. The other problem I have is that the soap dispensor will no longer stay closed. The Plastic tab that holds it shut has basically disintegrated. Will this cause the dishes to not come clean? Can this part be replaced? I don't see any visable screws holding it onto the door.

Hi - welcome to FixYa,\015\012\015\012The first problem isn't a fault with the washer, it's a plumbing problem called "water hammer", which is a resonating vibration through your pipes. My dishwasher's top rotating sprayer keeps coming loose. The screw and plastic bearing fall out and I think that it has stripped out the end where it seats into the top of the washer. Any ideas on how to anchor this in? Adhesive? A larger screw? The plastic bearing is Part No. 568 and the screw is Part No. 569. If I replace the conduit arm (Part No. 585), will that give it a new, clean spot to screw in too? How difficult is it to replace this arm?

When we do not use the dishwasher for a week or more water seems to back up into the tub. The water has a foul smell to it and can be as much as an inch or so deep. The dishwasher drain hose is attached to an insinkerator disposal. By the way this dishwasher is only a couple of months old and we have had to have it serviced three times. No one has been able to explain the water accumulation and it can not be demonstrated unless the washer sits unused for a while.

Dishwasher Problem... Hey, I'm sorry I can't seem to find this information anywhere else. I'm having a similar problem with my dishwasher (also a kenmore quiet guard) and I wanted to try to clean the filter. I'm not sure how to remove the lower arm of the dishwasher. I hope I'm not bothering you! Thank you, Je

I followed 'Mindcell's' advice on fixing my Kenmore QuietGuard 4 dishwasher, and I managed to clear out all the food particles that have accumulated. I suspect that is probably why the middle spray arm has not been very effective. However, in my repair, as I was screwing in the star screw that holds the cover of the foodscreen (the lower most star screw), I managed to overturn it and break it. Thus, the food screen is only held by a plastic clip, and from what I can gather, pressure from a
